PM Modi’s Vision: Confirmed Railway Tickets for All in Next 5 Years, Assures Railway Minister

Union Railways and IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has reiterated the government’s commitment to providing confirmed railway tickets for all passengers within the next five years. This assurance comes in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the Indian Railways.

Speaking during an interaction with IANS, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the unprecedented transformation witnessed in the railways under PM Modi’s leadership over the past decade. He emphasized the government’s dedication to further bolstering the railway infrastructure and improving passenger amenities.

“In the next five years, PM Modi guarantees that the capacity of the Railways will be increased so much that almost any passenger who wants to travel can easily get a confirmed ticket,” stated Union Minister Vaishnaw.

He underscored the pivotal role of railways in driving the country’s economic growth and pledged to accelerate the pace of development in the sector. Vaishnaw outlined plans for extensive expansion and enhancement of facilities to cater to the evolving needs of passengers.

Reflecting on the achievements in the railway sector, Vaishnaw highlighted significant milestones reached during the Modi administration. “From 2014 to 2024, 31,000 kilometres of new tracks were built,” he noted, illustrating the substantial progress made in infrastructure development.

The minister also emphasized the remarkable strides in electrification efforts, with 44,000 kilometers of railway electrification accomplished in the last decade compared to a mere 5,000 kilometers in the preceding years.

Furthermore, Vaishnaw highlighted the substantial increase in coach manufacturing and the successful commissioning of dedicated freight corridors, underscoring the government’s commitment to modernizing and expanding railway infrastructure.

“Only 32,000 coaches were made from 2004-2014. In the last 10 years, 54,000 coaches were built,” he stated, illustrating the significant ramp-up in production capacity.

Vaishnaw concluded by highlighting the commissioning of two dedicated freight corridors spanning 2,734 kilometers, marking a significant milestone in enhancing logistical efficiency and freight movement across the country.
