Today, police escorted Bibhav Kumar, accused of assaulting AAP MP Swati Maliwal, to CM Arvind Kejriwal’s home to reconstruct the incident, an official reported.
Mr. Kumar underwent interrogation, with statements from about 20 individuals recorded. The Chief Minister and family may provide statements if necessary.
Previously, Mr. Kejriwal’s aide was arrested from his residence and remanded to police custody for five days.
“A team conducted a recreation of the crime scene at the CM’s residence around 5:45 pm, staying for nearly an hour before proceeding to Mr. Kumar’s residence in the same vicinity,” the official stated.
Ms. Maliwal filed an FIR against Mr. Kumar, alleging assault during a visit to Mr. Kejriwal’s home on May 13. The police have added a charge of evidence destruction to the FIR.
Investigators questioned Mr. Kumar about his presence at the CM’s residence on May 18, five days post the incident. Queries also revolved around his relationship with Ms. Maliwal and her visit to Mr. Kejriwal’s home.
Approximately 20 individuals, including police personnel who responded to Ms. Maliwal’s PCR calls from the CM’s residence, provided statements. Some from the Civil Lines police station were also included.
Additional statements are pending recording, with plans to transport Mr. Kumar to Mumbai over suspicions of data tampering.
Mr. Kumar’s phone and CCTV’s DVR were retrieved from Mr. Kejriwal’s home, slated for forensic examination. Though footage from eight CCTV cameras and DVRs was collected, some lacked pertinent recordings, the official noted.
