In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended nine individuals, including two doctors, in connection with a major corruption racket unearthed at Delhi’s prestigious Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.
The arrests come as part of an investigation into allegations of bribery involving patients and medical representatives. The accused were reportedly involved in various illicit activities, including the supply of stents and medical equipment, admission of patients in exchange for bribes, and the issuance of fake medical certificates.
Identified as Parvathgouda, Assistant Professor in the Cardiology Department, and Ajay Raj, Professor in the same department, the two doctors allegedly accepted bribes while serving at RML Hospital.
Among the other arrested individuals is Rajnish Kumar, a senior lab in-charge at the hospital, implicated in the corrupt practices.
The arrests shed light on the multi-faceted nature of the corruption scandal, exposing a network of illegal activities within the healthcare system.
