On Saturday morning, two coaches of the Indore-Jabalpur Express derailed as the train was approaching Jabalpur station in Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred at around 5:40 am, just as the train was nearing the station. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the derailment.

The derailment took place approximately 50 meters from the platform, with the affected coaches located just behind the engine. The train was on its way to platform number 6 when the incident occurred.

Madhur Verma, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of West Central Railway’s Jabalpur Rail Division, noted that the train was scheduled to arrive at 5:35 am, and the derailment happened shortly after at 5:38 am. The quick response of the loco pilot, who stopped the train promptly, prevented further damage.

The passengers safely disembarked, and traffic on the adjacent tracks was halted for about 30 minutes while the situation was managed. An investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway, with a multi-departmental inquiry committee formed to conduct a thorough probe.

Harshit Shrivastava, Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway, stated that the train was moving at a slow speed of 5 kmph at the time of the incident. Despite the disruption, railway traffic on other routes remained unaffected.

The only major impact was the temporary closure of platform number 6 at Jabalpur station. Restoration work is ongoing, and efforts to re-rail the affected coaches are in progress.

Authorities are focused on understanding the cause of the derailment. Meanwhile, railway services continue as normal on other tracks, ensuring minimal disruption to passengers.
