Punjabi singer Fatehjit Singh, known for hits like Paranda, was arrested by the Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport for his role in an illegal immigration scheme. Singh was accused of helping individuals use the “donkey route” to enter the United States, arranging fake visas for the process.

Singh had been evading authorities since March but was apprehended on Wednesday. According to Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport), Singh admitted to facilitating fake visas for Gurpreet Singh, who attempted to reach the US five times.

Gurpreet’s journey took him through Bhutan, Thailand, and Kazakhstan, all part of an elaborate plan to enter the US illegally. In March 2023, he was deported from Kazakhstan after torn pages were discovered in his passport, suspected to be fake visas.

Sultan Singh, an agent, played a central role in these operations, charging Rs 50 lakh for the entire arrangement. Sultan tore out the fake visa pages from Gurpreet’s passport before a flight to Brazil, leading to his deportation.

Sultan was arrested earlier in March after Gurpreet’s failed attempts. He disclosed that Fatehjit Singh was involved in organizing these immigration routes and received Rs 4 lakh for his role.

Fatehjit, who has performed internationally, is now under investigation for further illegal immigration activities alongside Sultan.

Delhi Police are looking into Singh’s involvement in other cases of illegal immigration as more details emerge in this case. The investigation remains ongoing.
