In a significant pre-dawn operation on Thursday, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the International Border in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, neutralizing seven heavily armed terrorists. The attempted incursion, allegedly orchestrated from across the Pakistan border, marks a major escalation in the region amid growing cross-border tensions.
A senior BSF official confirmed the interception occurred around 3:40 AM, as suspicious movement was detected through night vision surveillance systems. Troops engaged swiftly, leading to a fierce exchange of fire that resulted in the elimination of seven infiltrators.
In the aftermath of the gunfight, the BSF also delivered precision strikes on Pakistan’s forward post in Dhandhar, inflicting what the official described as “substantial structural and tactical damage.”
The operation unfolded in the Ramgarh area of Samba district, which now remains under tight security lockdown. Aerial and ground-level surveillance has been intensified, and border villages in proximity have been advised to stay indoors amid fears of further escalation.
Visuals from the region show villages wearing a deserted look, with local administration issuing alerts in anticipation of retaliatory shelling or further attempts by infiltrators.
Security sources believe the group of terrorists had been attempting to enter Indian territory with possible plans to disrupt civilian life or target military installations. A massive cache of weapons, communication devices, and Pakistani-origin food supplies were recovered from the site.
This marks one of the deadliest infiltration attempts in recent months and comes as tensions between India and Pakistan have spiked following India’s Operation Sindoor targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Authorities have raised the alert across border districts in Jammu, Punjab, and parts of Rajasthan. The Ministry of Defence stated that any future attempts to breach India’s sovereignty would be met with “decisive and overwhelming force.”
