The Kolkata police said Friday they have arrested three men for allegedly raping a woman inside a law college earlier this week.

According to a police officer, a case was registered based on the complainant’s letter, alleging the involvement of three men. “The rape happened on June 25 in between 7.30 pm to 10.50 pm,” said an officer.

All three arrested men were produced before a court on Friday and remanded to four days of police custody.

Two of the suspects were arrested on June 26 at around 7.20 pm and 7.35 pm, respectively. The police said they seized their mobile phones after the arrest.

Following their interrogation, the third man named in the First Information report was arrested from his house at around 12.30 am Friday, and his mobile phone was also seized.

The police said a preliminary medical examination of the victim was conducted. They said they have examined witnesses and recorded their statements. They also visited the scene of the crime and secured it for the pending forensic examination.
