
New Delhi, August 25, 2025 – Commuters travelling on the Delhi Metro will face higher ticket prices starting today. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has increased fares by Re 1 to Rs 4 across all lines. The Airport Line will see a rise of up to Rs 5. This marks the first fare revision in eight years, the previous adjustment being in 2017.
Fare Revision Details
The DMRC announced the fare change on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“This is to confirm that Delhi Metro fares will be revised with effect from tomorrow, i.e., 25th August 2025. The revision will be nominal, with fares increasing by Re 1 to Rs 4. The fares on the Airport Line will increase by up to Rs 5.”
Before this revision, the minimum fare was Rs 10, and the maximum fare was Rs 60, as per the Fourth Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) recommendations.
Commuters React to the Hike
The fare hike has sparked reactions on social media:
- One commuter said, “I pay Rs 130 daily. Now it will be Rs 140. The fare hike is faster than our salary revision.”
