Tahseen Syed Arrested in Connection with Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Attack

New Delhi, August 25, 2025 – The Delhi Police arrested a second suspect, Tahseen Syed, in connection with the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, officials told ANI. Syed is alleged to have transferred money to the primary accused, Rajesh Khimji, who carried out the assault.

Tahseen Syed was brought to Delhi from Rajkot, Gujarat on Friday for further questioning.

Who is Tahseen Syed?

According to Delhi Police, Tahseen Syed is an auto driver from Rajkot and a friend of the main accused, Rajesh Khimji. Police stated that Syed allegedly sent ₹2,000 to Khimji and was in constant contact with him before the attack.

Khimji reportedly shared a video of CM Rekha Gupta’s Shalimar Bagh residence with Syed, which may have been used to plan the assault.

Attack on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta

On August 20, 2025, CM Rekha Gupta was attacked at her Civil Lines residence during a Jan Sunwai programme. Rajesh Khimji allegedly slapped the CM and pulled her hair before security intervened.

Khimji was arrested and sent to five-day police custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Delhi Police Intensifies Probe

Police are now retrieving dump data from telecom providers, which includes mobile tower locations, device signals, and call records. This is aimed at tracking Khimji’s movements before and during the attack and checking whether others were involved.

Officials are also:

  • Reviewing CCTV footage around CM’s residences
  • Verifying security logs and visitor entries
  • Cross-checking interrogation inputs with technical evidence

The goal is to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify any external support in the assault.
