The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out fresh raids across several districts of Jammu and Kashmir as part of its ongoing terror conspiracy investigation, sources said.
The agency conducted searches in Srinagar, Baramulla, and Bandipora. NIA teams worked closely with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during the operation.
Homes of Govt Employee and Former Militant Targeted
According to sources, the agency searched the homes of multiple individuals during the raids. These included a government employee, a former militant, and a person allegedly linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami organisation.
Officials said the agency launched the searches to identify possible support networks. These networks may have provided financial help, shelter, or logistical support to terror groups operating in the region.
Raids Linked to Earlier NIA Operations
Earlier in December, the NIA carried out similar raids at eight locations in Kashmir and Lucknow. Those searches formed part of the investigation into the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort in November.
The blast on November 10 killed 13 people and injured 32 others. Following the attack, the agency arrested several suspects linked to a suspected terror module.
Focus on Terror Module Connections
Meanwhile, investigators are now focusing on locations connected to those arrested earlier. They are examining whether these premises played a role in planning, funding, or supporting the attack.
The agency is also analysing electronic devices and documents seized during previous searches. As a result, officials expect fresh leads to emerge in the coming days.
Security Tightened During Searches
During the raids, security forces tightened security in the affected areas. Authorities regulated local movement to avoid any law-and-order issues. Residents cooperated with security personnel during the operation, sources said.
Officials confirmed that the agency followed all legal procedures while carrying out the searches.
Investigation Continues
So far, the NIA has not announced any arrests linked to the latest raids. However, officials said further questioning and searches may follow based on the evidence collected.
The agency continues to work with local police and central forces to dismantle terror networks and prevent future attacks in the region.
