In a surprising turn of events, Indian-American Republican entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has officially withdrawn from the 2024 presidential race. The decision follows a less-than-expected performance in the Iowa caucuses, a crucial early test in the U.S. presidential race.

Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, faced tough competition in Iowa. Despite trailing behind Trump, Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley, Ramaswamy made a bold announcement during a press conference after 96% of the results were out.

“We did not achieve the surprise we wanted to deliver tonight,” Ramaswamy admitted. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his commitment to ensuring Trump’s victory, stating, “This entire campaign is about speaking the TRUTH… Tonight I am suspending my campaign and endorsing Donald J. Trump and will do everything I can to make sure he is the next U.S. President.”

The 38-year-old, who had never held elective office and was self-funding his campaign, emphasized the lack of a viable path for him to become the next president. Despite the setback, Ramaswamy reassured his supporters that this wasn’t the end.

“Don’t despair, this isn’t the end of the road. It’s the beginning of a new one. We have a country to save & we will do it together,” he wrote in a social media post.

Ramaswamy’s endorsement of Trump adds an interesting twist to the evolving landscape of the 2024 presidential race, showcasing the complexities and alliances within the Republican party. As the campaign unfolds, the political dynamics are sure to keep the nation on edge.
