New Delhi: Following an attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a Jan Sunwai at her Civil Lines office on Wednesday, the Delhi Police has announced new security measures to ensure her safety.

The attacker, identified as Sakaria Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai from Rajkot, Gujarat, approached the Chief Minister posing as a petitioner. During the meeting, he reportedly slapped and pushed her and pulled her hair. The Chief Minister’s security team quickly overpowered him.

Police are reviewing the incident and implementing enhanced security protocols for all public interactions of the Chief Minister to prevent similar incidents in the future.
