ED Searches Multiple Premises
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches on Tuesday at properties linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj. The action relates to an alleged hospital construction case in Delhi during his tenure as Health Minister.
Officials confirmed that nearly 12 locations across Delhi were searched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Role of Saurabh Bharadwaj
Bharadwaj, MLA from Greater Kailash, has previously served as Delhi Health Minister and Chairman of Delhi Jal Board. He also heads the AAP Delhi unit.
The case, registered by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), also names former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
Allegations in the Case
The ACB statement said that in 2018–19, the Delhi government cleared 24 hospital projects — 11 greenfield and 13 brownfield — at a cost of around ₹5,590 crore.
However, many projects saw long delays and sharp cost increases, raising concerns about possible financial irregularities. Authorities are now investigating whether public funds were misused.
What Lies Ahead
The ED is reviewing contracts, project timelines, and fund allocations. Findings from the raids will determine whether further legal action is taken.
