Delhi will launch projects worth ₹3,000 crore to improve water, sewage, drainage, and roads. The announcement comes during Seva Pakhwada and on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Yamuna Clean-Up and Water Projects
The Delhi Jal Board will start 13 projects. It will lay a new sewer network in Sonia Vihar, build a Master Balancing Reservoir at Palla, and set up an Underground Reservoir at Bijwasan. The board is also upgrading the Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant to cut Yamuna pollution. These projects will expand water supply and strengthen sewage systems.
Drainage Master Plan
The PWD will release a new Drainage Master Plan. It aims to end monsoon waterlogging and provide long-term flood solutions.
Nand Nagri Flyover for Traffic Relief
The government will open the Nand Nagri Flyover in East Delhi. The flyover will reduce traffic jams and shorten travel time.
Safer Pedestrian Movement
Authorities will build a Foot Over Bridge at Rajputana Rifles to improve pedestrian safety.
Government’s Stand
PWD and Water Minister Parvesh Verma said, “From water pipelines to flyovers, every initiative reflects our vision of a healthier, safer, and more efficient Delhi.”
What Lies Ahead
The projects promise relief from water shortages, Yamuna pollution, heavy traffic, and monsoon flooding. Success will depend on timely execution.
