RK Suresh, a BJP member, actor, and film producer, finally presented himself before the Economic Offences Wing CID investigators on Tuesday in connection with the Aarudhra Gold Trading Private Limited’s investment scam.
The firm, situated in Aminjikarai, allegedly amassed deposits totaling Rs 2,400 crore from more than one lakh investors between September 2020 and May 2022. They enticed investors with monthly interest rates ranging from 25% to 30%, yet failed to fulfill promised returns or return the principal amounts. Additionally, these entities held meetings at upscale hotels and appointed agents to attract investors.
Upon complaints from depositors, the Economic Offences Wing initiated a case, charging the company with cheating, criminal breach of trust, and related offenses under various sections of the IPC.
Suresh, alleged to have connections with the firm’s transactions, had reportedly evaded summons for two years, residing in different countries. However, on Tuesday, accompanied by his legal representatives, he appeared before the EOW CID officers at their Ashok Nagar headquarters, where his statement was recorded.
