A Delhi Police team reportedly visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence on Sunday as part of their investigation into the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Sources reveal that electronic devices, including CCTV DVR, were collected to review footage of the incident.
Allegations and Arrest
Ms. Maliwal claims she was assaulted on May 13 by Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of Mr. Kejriwal, at the CM’s residence. She further alleges tampering with CCTV footage from the scene. Bibhav Kumar was arrested on Saturday and remanded in five-day police custody. However, sources suggest he has been evasive during questioning.
Legal Proceedings
The FIR against Bibhav Kumar includes charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, such as attempt to commit culpable homicide, wrongful restraint, assault on a woman with intent to disrobe, criminal intimidation, and insulting the modesty of a woman. The case is registered at the Civil Lines police station.
This incident adds to the ongoing political and legal complexities surrounding AAP and underscores the need for thorough investigation and accountability in such matters.
