GREATER NOIDA: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Greater Noida’s Dankaur, where a 17-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being brutally attacked by the family members of a girl he had known for the past year and a half. This shocking event has left the community in distress and sparked an urgent investigation by the authorities.
The Fateful Day
Around 12 PM on a seemingly ordinary Tuesday, the 17-year-old boy set out from his home, heading to a village nearly 11 km away. Having just passed Class 12, he picked up his best friend on his bike and set off, not raising any suspicion from his mother who assumed he was going to the gym as usual.
However, tragedy struck when the boy never returned home.
A Brutal Assault
Barely an hour and a half later, the boy’s uncle received a horrifying call. “One of our relatives called me saying that a group of men have put my nephew and his friend in a car and they are thrashing them. We rushed there and took them to the hospital,” recounted the 52-year-old uncle. Sadly, the boy succumbed to his injuries.
According to the police, the attack occurred after the father of a 14-year-old girl discovered the supposed relationship between the boy and his daughter.
Legal Action and Arrests
The Greater Noida police quickly registered an FIR against six men, including the girl’s father, brother, and cousins under various charges such as unlawful assembly, homicide, causing hurt, wrongful confinement, murder, and rioting. While the brother and cousins have been arrested, the father remains on the run.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Greater Noida, Ashok Kumar, confirmed the incident: “They were beaten by her family and were later admitted to GIMS hospital, where the teenager died during treatment. We have arrested three accused and are probing the case.”
A Family in Mourning
The friend of the deceased boy is currently battling for his life in the hospital. His father is unsure if he will survive, saying, “My son cannot even speak a word because of the injuries. His body has turned blue, I don’t think he will survive.”
The deceased boy, who was the only son of his parents, had lost his father years ago. His family alleges that the attack was exceptionally brutal, with his private parts mutilated and nails pulled out from his toes. “The entire body was blue, toenails pulled out, private parts mutilated,” said a cousin, suggesting that the attack was premeditated.
The Relationship
The boy’s cousin explained that he came into contact with the girl because her aunt was married to a man in their village. “She used to come and stay at her aunt’s house. The two became friends and fell in love,” he said.
Community Shocked
The girl’s house is now locked, and all her relatives are absconding. The villagers, unaware of the incident until Wednesday morning, expressed their shock. “The girl studies at a school nearby. Her family left last night after his death,” said a neighbor.
This tragic event highlights the extreme consequences of societal and familial pressures in the region. The community mourns the loss of a young life, while the authorities continue to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
